A day health centre downtown for older people and adults with disabilities who live at home but need supervision during the day. Registered nurses check vital signs and give medicines, therapists offer physical and occupational therapy, and there is a hot meal and snacks each day.

Families Together — Adult Day Health

An adult day health centre just over the Worcester line in Leicester. A licensed nurse is on site all day to give medicines, and it offers showers, hair and nail care, gentle exercise, breakfast and lunch, and transport to and from the centre. It also runs an Adult Family Care programme that pays a family member to be the carer at home.

It suits older adults with a lifelong disability rather than people whose needs come only with age. Help paying for a day programme
MassHealth Adult Day Health (ADH) Program

MassHealth pays for adult day health for members who need a nurse's supervision or help with at least one daily task such as bathing, toileting or eating. Programmes give nursing care, medicine management, activities and meals, and most are open five days a week.
Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm; automated service at any hour.

Memory cafés and a break for carers
Making Connections Memory Café

A free monthly afternoon get-together for people living with memory loss and the family member or friend who comes with them, with conversation, refreshments and an activity. It is run by Elder Services of Worcester Area with the Worcester Senior Center, and there is also a Spanish-language café in Worcester.

Elder Services of Worcester Area — Respite Care Program

Gives family carers a break by arranging services for the older person, including adult day health, social day care, respite companions, homemakers, home health aides and short-term stays. Charges are on a sliding scale, and there is no upper income limit.
